Tottenham prepared to pay £17m for ex-Arsenal youth, Man United also in race
Tottenham are prepared to pay £17 million for Besiktas star midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup according to A Bola.
Per the source, several Premier League players have joined the race to sign the ex Arsenal youth but Spurs are favourites to put pen to paper.
The latest report follows Turkish newspaper Fanatik claiming that Besiktas turned down a £10 million move from Roma.
Turkish-Football meanwhile reported that Manchester United have been scouting the 24-year-old.
Ozyakup is no stranger to Premier League football having risen through the ranks at the Arsenal academy along with Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquilen.
The class of 92 won the Youth FA Cup together but Ozyakup decided to pursue his career abroad joining Besiktas in 2012 for £425,000.
The Turkish international has directly been involved in 64 goals since making the move – 26 goals and 38 assists.
Ozyakup also played a key role in Besiktas winning the league title last season, a feat they are likely to repeat this time around.
The midfielder will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the season.
Besiktas will hold talks with Ozykaup over a contract extension at the end of the season but may have to consider selling the 24-year-old if a deal is not reached.
The Turkish international is expected to start for Besiktas against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final first-leg today in France.
