Everton boss Sam Allardyce hopes January signing Cenk Tosun has a chance to get up to speed during the training camp in Dubai.
Tosun has started Everton’s last three games on the bench despite starting consecutive games after joining from Besiktas.
The 26-year-old joined the Merseyside based club for £26 million from Besiktas. Tosun was an unused substitute during Everton’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace over the weekend.
Allardyce has opted to field Oumar Niasse in the Turkey international’s place.
However, the experienced tactician is hopeful that Tosun will be able to get to speed during this week’s trip to the middle east for a mid-season training camp.
“It will be important for him to train really, really hard particularly when you are walking out and it is chucking it down with rain,” Allardyce was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.
“It is not that he is not used to it but it is freezing cold. When you are on the grass in short sleeves and shorts and a pair of boots players don’t want to stop training and don’t want to stop playing football, in fact we have to stop them and say you have done enough lads.
“They say: ‘Lets have another 10-15 minutes.’ That is what you get when you get out in the right climate.”
The Toffees moved up into ninth spot with 34 points following their win over Crystal Palace.
Everton are back in action in the Premier League on February 24 when they take on Watford FC in their next Premer League fixture.
