Turkish Foreign Ministry rescues Stephen M’bia’s family from Boko Haram

The Turkish foreign ministry have evacuated Trabzonspor midfielder Stephen M’bia’s family from Cameroon according to HaberTürk.

The report states that the village M’bia’s family live in has been subject to attacks from Boko Haram. The Trabzonspor midfielder informed the club that his family were under threat which prompted the foreign ministry to get involved.

M’bia’s family are reported to be in Turkey where they will be relocated.

Boko Haram operate predominantly in Northeast Nigeria, Northern Cameroon, Niger and Chad.

Reuters reported yesterday that suspected Boko Haram militants from the organisation recently kidnapped 100 and killed eight people in Cameroon.

The Cameroon star featured in the Sevilla’s successful league and cup campaign last season. The 29-year-old midfielder also starred in the Spanish sides Europea League final victory over Dnipro last month.

M’bia made two assists and scored seven goals in 34 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla last season before signing for Trabzonspor over the summer.

Trabzonspor parted ways with manager Ersun Yanal yesterday and are expected to replace him Shota Arveladze.
