Besiktas beat Genclerbirligi 1-0 at the Fatih Terim stadium to move into first place in the Super Lig overtaking Fenerbahce.

The first-half ended in a draw despite the Olcay Sahan hitting the crossbar for the Black Eagles. Besiktas have now been level at the interval for the second week running.

The home side did eventually manage to score and it came as a result of a well organised attacking move with Gomez ending his goal drought with a fine finish.

Gomez now has 16 goals league goals from 68 attempts this season since joining from Fiorentina over the summer – 18 in all competitions.
