Liverpool came back from a goal and a man down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park.
Joe Ledley gave the home side the lead just after half-time and Liverpool looked down and out when James Milner got himself sent off for a second bookable offence on 62 minutes.
Liverpool did however, get themselves back into the game against the run of play when Firminho made the most of a dreadful goalkeeping error from McCarthy to equalise.
The game looked destined for a draw until Benteke scored in the fifth minute of additional time to wrap up a dramatic comeback.
Emre Can started for the Reds and put on a man of the match performance playing a key role in making up the numbers following the dismissal of James Milner.
Can worked assiduously trying to break up Palace attacks and was a threat going forwards making the highest number of successful dribbles (5).
The Germany international of Turkish origin was hugely influential both defensively and in the final third. Can made the highest number of passes for his side with 83 percent accuracy helping his side retain possession even when down to 10 men.
The victory saw Liverpool move into seventh place on 44 points with a game in hand.
