Cenk Tosun was signed on a big money move from Besiktas in January but if he thought he was going to walk into the Everton team he was mistaken.

Sam Allardyce has dropped Tosun for the past three games in favor of Oumar Niasse.

The Senegal international scored and provided an assist in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace before the Premier League break and is likely to remain first-choice striker in the near future if Big Sam’s recent comments are anything to go by.

There have been reports that Tosun is unhappy with the situation, reports in Turkey even claimed he was thinking about packing it in and returning back to the Black Eagles.

The reality could not be any further from the truth.

The 26-year-old underlined that he wants a long-term future at Everton and aims to end their trophy drought.

“I want to be a player that can help Everton to achieve what we want to achieve as a club. I am working hard to be that player,” he told evertonfc.com.

“In the long term I want to win some silverware in my career at Everton.”

Tosun admitted that he struggled to settle in but that he is adapting to the Premier League style of play.

“The first few weeks were difficult maybe for my body and the adjustment but I can feel already that I’m adapting and I’m more comfortable now,” he added.

“Perhaps this season it will be tough to achieve the goals we would set out for ourselves because the first part of the season didn’t really go to plan.

“But we have turned things around and are only two points back from seventh position, so we have given ourselves a chance.”

The last time the Toffees won a trophy was in 1995 when they beat Manchester United at Wembley to win the FA Cup.

Everton take on Watford next on Saturday in the Premier League, Tosun will be available for the game.
