Barcelona place £34m Arsenal target Arda Turan on transfer list to raise funds to sign £140m Liverpool star playmaker in January

Barcelona have placed Arsenal target Arda Turan on the transfer list ahead of the January transfer window.

The Turkey international is expected to leave the La Liga giants after failing to break into the squad this season. Turan is yet to feature for Barcelona in the league following the appointment of Ernesto Valverde over the summer.

According to the Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are desperate to offload Turan from their wage bill and are likely to accept a cut-price fee for the playmaker.

Meanwhile the Metro states that Barca want to raise extra funds in order to push ahead with a move for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho in January.

The Brazilian was linked with a mega £140 million move to Barca over the summer transfer window.

News of Barcelona placing Turan on the transfer list will come as a boost to Arsenal who were interested in signing the Turkey international. Turkey national team boss Mircea Lucescu revealed that Arsenal made an offer for Turan over the summer.

Turan joined Barcelona for £34 million from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid back in 2015.
