Napoli midfielder Gökhan Inler revealed that he is looking forward to playing in front of Turkish fans ahead of the Europa League Round of 32 clash against Trabzonspor.
“I’ve known the Turkish supporters since I was a child and I know the atmosphere is going to be heated, but I’m not intimidated by that. In fact I like it,” Inler told Football Italia.
The 30-year-old Swiss international is of Turkish origin and lived in Turkey as a child so he will be familiar with Trabzonspor.
Inler also dismissed reports linking him with a move to Süper Lig giants Beşiktaş and underlined that he is only focusing on the game.
“Turkish clubs like Besiktas showed an interest in me recently? I don’t care, I’m focused on the match and that alone,” he added.
The 30-year-old central midfielder has spent four years at Napoli since joining in July 2011 from Udinese.
The Swiss international of Turkish descent has scored one goal in 14 appearances for Napoli this season.
Napoli will take on Trabzonspor on Thursday 19 February in the first-leg of the Round of 32.
