Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel believes that the Reds must keep an eye on Demba Ba ahead of their Europa League Round of 32 second leg clash against Beşiktaş.

“Demba Ba didn’t play in their last game because he had an injury, but if he’s playing, Liverpool will need to keep an eye on him,” Babel told the official Liverpool website.

“He in general makes the most impact for Besiktas up front – but overall, Liverpool should have the confidence to win the game.”

Ba famously scored against Liverpool last season while playing for the Blues. Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip against Chelsea allowed Ba a free run on goal to give the Blues the lead.

Liverpool’s title challenge suffered a huge blow following the 2-0 loss.

Ba has hit the ground running since joining the Black Eagles from Chelsea in the summer.

The Senegalese international has already scored a career best 22 goals this season. Ba is also the leading goal scorer in the league.

The powerful striker missed the Eagles league game against Eskişehirspor on the weekend due to injury but is expected to start against Liverpool.
