Roma plot to make move for £13.3m Arsenal target who previously played for North London club

Roma are plotting a move for Arsenal target Oguzhan Ozyakup according to reports in Turkey.

AMK claim that Roma have focused attention on Ozyakup after talks with Sampdoria over Lucas Torreira stalled.

Per the source, Roma sporting director Monchi is keen on the 24-year-old who Besiktas value as being worth £13.3 million [€15m].

Roma sporting director Monchi is a keen admirer of Ozyakup and also wanted him during his time at Sevilla.

“Sevilla tried to sign him last summer but Besiktas did not want him to leave, the door is however, still open,” Monchi told Estadio Deportivo.

Ozyakup has just over 12 months remaining on his contract and has yet to agree a new deal which has resulted in reports that he could be headed for a summer exit.

Turkish-Football recently reported that Arsenal are keen on their former youth player making a return to North London.

Ozyakup left Arsenal in 2012 in pursuit of first-team football and went onto establish himself as a first team regular for Besiktas.

The 24-year-old played an important role in the Black Eagles winning the league title for the past two seasons.

The Turkish international was part of the Gunners class of 92 and won the 2009 Youth FA Cup alongside the likes of Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin.

The Besiktas ace has a total of 27 goals and 42 assists in 182 appearances since joining the Istanbul giants.

Ozyakup also has an impressive record at international level and provided an assist for Turkey in the 4-1 victory over Kosovo on Sunday.

The victory moved Turkey within two points of World Cup qualification Group I joint leaders Iceland and Croatia.

The Besiktas star has one goal and three assists in 26 international games for Turkey.
