Mesut Ozil has stated that his impressive assist rate this season is down to his teammates ability to convert his final passes.
The World Cup winner stated that he provided a high amount of final passes over the past two seasons however, his teammates failed to convert the chances he created into goals.
“Our forwards now convert my assists. You have to put the numbers into perspective,” Ozil said in an interview with kicker.
“I’ve also played a lot of good final passes in the last two seasons, but nobody converted them. This year, our attackers turn my assists into goals, and those assists appear in the stats.”
Özil has provided 16 assists in 17 Premier League games which is more than any other player in England and the top five leagues in Europe including France, Italy, Spain and Germany.
Özil has won the Arsenal player of the month award for the last two months for the north London club and is expected to win the away for a third consecutive time for December.
