Arsenal beat Bournemouth 2-0 to go into 2016 as Premier League leaders on Monday 28 December.
Mesut Özil provided his 16th assist of the season and also got his name on the scoresheet in what was yet another impressive performance from the World Cup winner.
Former Arsenal star and football pundit Ian Wright was blown away by Özil’s performance and described his performance as being nothing short of brilliant.
“He was brilliant that was his 16th assist of the season he created another nine chances today he was amazing,” Wright said speaking on the BBC football show Match of the Day.
“The quality of Özil today was brilliant.”
Özil has provided 16 assists in 17 Premier League games which is more than any other player in England and the top five leagues in Europe including France, Italy, Spain and Germany.
The 27-year-old had come under fire last season for his perceived lazy style of football and not working hard enough but he has silenced critics this season.
Özil has won the Arsenal player of the month award for the last two months for the north London club and is expected to win the away for a third consecutive time for December.
