Barcelona

Barcelona have kept up with the pace set by Real Madrid with four victories in a row and know another win will take them to the top of the table, even if it is just for a few hours.

Luis Enrique will be unable to call upon Alex Vidal, Javier Mascherano and Jérémy Mathieu due to injuries. Meanwhile, Arda Turan is expected to feature after recovering from a muscle injury. The Turkish international midfielder has missed Barca’s last three games and Enrique could give him playing time against Sporting if he decides to give one of the MSN – Messi, Suarez, Neymar – a break considering they all played just a few days ago against Atleti.

Sporting Gijon

Sporting head into Wednesday evenings clash in poor form with only win from their last 10 games. The visitors are languishing in the relegation zone and can slip into 19th place if they lose to Barcelona.

All Barcelona’s focus is on the La Liga following their 4-0 defeat at the hands of PSG in the Champions League. Enrique’s side have the best goal difference in the division and know they can put added pressure on their rivals with a win against Sporting.

Sporting meanwhile have won just four games this term and are one of the favourites to go down.

Barcelona are in good form in the league at the moment and go into Wednesday night’s clash as clear favourites.
