Trabzonspor beat Mersin 5-1 at the Tevfik Sırrı Gür stadium to move in fourth place in the league.

Cardozo has now scored the joint highest number of goals in the league alongside Beşiktaş striker Demba Ba and Bursaspor forward Fernandao.

The victory over Mersin took Trabzonspor into fourth place on 40 points and was the Black Sea Storms second consecutive win.

The Paraguayan international joined Trabzonspor from Benfica on a €5 million move this summer on a three-year deal.

The powerful striker moved to Benfica from Newell’s Old Boys back in 2007 for a fee of €9.1 million.

Cardozo scored 172 goals in 293 appearances for the Portuguese giants.

The 31-year-old won the Portuguese Cup, five Portuguese League Cups and two league titles during his time at the Estadio da Luz.

Cardozo has scored a total of 17 goals and provided four assists in all competitions for Trabzonspor this season.
