Arsenal Star Continues To Face Attacks From The German Far-Right, AfD Politician questions whether Turks should be in the national team

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil continues to come under attack from the German far-right after the defending champions crashed out of the World Cup in the group stage.

German Afd party politician Martin Hohmann entered the debate last week asking whether Turks should be in the national team on his official Facebook page.

The AfD are a far-right party according to DW and several other media outlets including Reuters.

The irony being that Ozil was born in Germany, in fact so was his father.

The playmaker is of Turkish origin but is also a German citizen who was born in the country.

The anti-immigration party have been busy using Ozil as scapegoat to blame the World Cup exit, conveniently using it to push their political agenda.

AfD politician Uwe Schulz tweeted and later deleted this xenophobic message: “Our national team did not participate anyway.”

AfD press spokesman Christian Lüth tweeted “Ozil can be satisfied, congratulations Erdogan”.

Another AfD member, Jens Maier, meanwhile had the following to say, “We would have won without Ozil.” He shared a photo of the Arsenal player with the line “Satisfied, my President?”.

Ozil is expected to return to pre-season training early after enjoying a post World Cup holiday.

The Gunners will take part in the International Champions Cup in Singapore, Ozil will make the trip.
