Ilkay Gündoğan has branded Barcelona as a ‘great club’ as Europe’s elites prepare to battle it out over the 24-year-olds signature this summer.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder confirmed that he will be leaving Dortmund last week and the Bundesliga giants are keen to sell him before his contract expires in July 2016.
“Barcelona are a great club, but there are many great clubs out there,” he told SID.
Barcelona along with Juventus, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool have all expressed an interest in the Germany international.
Dortmund’s Sporting Director Michael Zorc also stated that he would prefer to sell to a Premier League club over their rivals Bayer Munich.
“Of course, we would prefer it if he did not join a Bundesliga rival, even if Bayern have not really been our rivals in a sporting sense this campaign,” Zorc told Sky90.
