Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand revealed that Robin Van Persie would often compare the differences between Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson.
Van Persie was a huge fan of Ferguson according to Ferdinand and was honoured to play under his stewardship.
Ferdinand wrote a Facebook post about his former teammate following news that Van Persie would be joining Süper Lig side Fenerbahçe.
The statement read: “We would travel to games together and he would talk about him & how he compared or was different to Wenger & ask loads of questions about the great man.”
Van Persie spent eight seasons under the command of Wenger but failed to win the Premier League or any European silverware. The 31-year-old striker only won the FA Cup and Community Shield during his time at the North London based club.
The Netherlands international left Arsenal for United in the summer of 2012 and won the league title in his first season for the Red Devils.
Van Persie played a key role in United winning the league title for a record 20th time and also won the Community Shield with the Premier League giants.
