Robin Van Persie has officially completed his move from Fenerbahçe to Manchester United today at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium in-front of a packed Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.
Fenerbahçe opened several stands of the stadium which were filled with raucous fans an hour before Van Persie walked out onto the pitch. The 31-year-old striker was given a heroes welcome as fans chanted Van Persie’s name.
The Dutch star was joined by sporting director Giuliano Terraneo before actually putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.
As reported by Turkish-football.com’s Emre Sarıgül and the Guardian’s Marcus Christenson on Thursday Fenerbahçe reached an agreement with Van Persie on 4 July 2015.
Van Persie will answer questions from reporters next in the press room of the stadium.
The Dutch star has become the second United player to join Fenerbahçe within the span of a week. Former United star Luis Nani joined on a three-year deal last Monday for a £4.3 million transfer fee.
