Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has stated that the Istanbul based club are not in talks with PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The statement comes amid reports linking the 33-year-old with a move to Galatasaray.
“We are still aiming to make new transfers. We are not interested in Zlatan [Ibrahimovic], we have not made an approach for him,” Özbek told LigTV.
“He is too expensive and we are trying to reduce the average age of the squad.”
Uzbek had previously been ambiguous in his responses to questions regarding the Ibrahimovic transfer link.
The Galatasaray president was asked about Ibrahimovic shortly after being elected and responded by saying: “Galatasaray is a club everybody would play for, we are a huge brand and after meeting with Hamzaoğlu we will release further information on these matters.”
Galatasaray are looking to make a marquee signing this summer after their rivals Fenerbahce landed both Luis Nani and Robin van Persie.
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is also keen on signing the 33-year-old according to the Express newspaper.
Ibrahimovic provided eight assists and scored 30 goals in 37 appearances for PSG last season. The experienced striker has previously played for AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Barcelona and Ajax.
Galatasaray won the league title for a record 20th time last season and booked a place in the Champions League group stages for the fourth consecutive season.
