The Eid festivities are coming to a close and football is back on the agenda in Turkey. Saturday sees newly promoted Osmanlıspor take on Trabzonspor. Akhisar host Gençlerbirliği and Galatasaray hope to keep their recent resurgence alive against Gaziantepspor.
Osmanlıspor v Trabzonspor: Trabzonspor Win
The self-proclaimed footballing Ottomans Osmanlıspor crushed Mersin 4-0 last week with N’Diaye scoring a hat-trick. Trabzonspor will be feeling a tad unlucky after losing against Galatasaray due to an own goal. To make matters worse the Black Sea Storm hit the crossbar twice and only conceded due to an own goal. Trabzonspor do however, have the best away record in the league and that is partly down to having players capable of counter-attacking at breakneck speed. Expect Osmanlıspor’s march to be halted here.
Akhisar v Gençlerbirliği: Akhisar Win
Akhisar are without a win in their last three games but remain undefeated at home. Gençlerbirliği meanwhile have lost their last five away games. Akhisar have traditionally been tough to beat at home while the Ankara based side have simply been awful on the road.
Galatasaray: Gaziantepspor: Galatasaray -1 Asian Handicap
Galatasaray returned from Trabzonspor triumphant but the win does mask the fact that their opposition hit the cross bar twice. Despite the manner of victory it was the three-points that was important at the end of the day and the Lions have proved time and time again over the last four seasons that they can grind out result when it matters. Gaziantepspor will have to perform a lot better than they did against Kayserispor last week if they are to even bag a point against the reigning champions. Galatasaray will however, be without captain Selçuk Inan due to injury and striker Burak Yılmaz who is injured. Former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski is now expected to start up-front while Jose Rodriguez and Bilal Kısa could form the midfield partnership after impressive performances last week.
