Manchester United are preparing a €40 million bid for the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Hakan Çalhanoğlu according to the Dutch football outlet Soccer News.
The report states that United are set to battled it out with the Serie A giants AC Milan for the 23-year-old’s signature.
United were also been closely linked with the Turkish international by Beyaz Tv during the summer transfer window.
Çalhanoğluis regarded as being one of the best set-piece specialists around and has received rave reviews from Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola who said: “Çalhanoğlu is one of the best free-kick takers in the Bundesliga.”
The Turkish international scored the highest number of free-kick goals – in the top five leagues in Europe – Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 – last season.
Çalhanoğlu joined Bayer from HSV on a €15 million transfer last season and was selected as the sixth most valuable U-21 players in the world list by Soccerex.
The 21-year-old has provided one assists and scored five goals in 11 appearances for Leverkusen this season.
