Mesut Özil has taken to Instagram following Germany’s 2-1 win over Georgia. The 2014 World Cup winners topped their group and have booked a place at Euro 2016 in France.
Özil provided the assist for Germany’s winner by Max Kruse against Georgia on Sunday.
The 26-year-old posted a picture of himself celebrating along with the caption, “In the end we qualified first of the table – sorry for making it so suspenseful.”
Özil was selected as the man of the match by whoscored. The 26-year-old received a rating of 8.78.
The World Cup winner makes up one of three players in the Germany national team of Turkish origin with the other two being Liverpool star Emre Can and the other Borussia Dortmund midfielder İlkay Gündoğan.
