Mesut Özil thanked Arsenal fans for the support they showed during the Champions League group stage game against Bayern Munich last night.
The Gunners won the game 2-0 and Özil ended up scoring the second goal to earn the north London based side their first three points of the 2015-16 campaign.
Özil praised his teammates and gave a shoutout to the Arsenal supporters following the memorable victory.
“We showed heart and the fans supported us superbly. The most important thing is the three points,” Özil told the official Arsenal website.
“We have to believe in ourselves, keep working hard and then we’ll be on a good path.”
Özil may have praised the Arsenal fans but both sets of supporters did not seem best pleased with the ticket prices being charged for the game. Bayer fans led a protest against the high prices in the opening minutes of the match.
Arsenal went into the game having lost their first two games in the group and were in desperate need of a win against the German giants.
The 27-year-old scored in his second consecutive big match following the 3-0 win over Manchester United just before the international break.
Özil has a total of two goals and five assists in all competitions for the Gunners this season.
