On-loan Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic sparked controversy following comments made regarding the Benfica – Galatasaray Champions League game which will be played this evening.
Markovic joined Fenerbahçe on-loan over the summer and has settled in well so well in fact that he has even managed to stir up the fans of Istanbul rivals Galatasaray.
The Serbian international believes that Benfica should have no problems beating Galatasaray who he believes to be quite predictable.
Markovic was quoted by the AMK as saying: “I think Benfica will win and book a place in the next round. Galatasaray struggle after conceding and they always play the same style so Benfica will know what to expect.”
The 21-year-old joined Liverpool last summer from Benfica so knows the Portuguese side well.
Markovic is likely to start for Fenerbahçe against Ajax in the Europa League on Thursday as the Yellow Canaries hope to do the double over the Dutch giants.
Galatasaray meanwhile will overtake Benfica and could move into first place in Champions League Group C with a win over the Portuguese giants.
