Southampton sent scouts to monitor Jason Denayer during Galatasaray’s clash with Benfica in the UEFA Champions League according to Club Call.
Denayer is currently on a season long loan at the Istanbul based club from Manchester City. The Belgium international played at right-back during Galatasaray’s 2-1 defeat in Portugal.
The 20-year-old defender has found himself played in an unorthodox role as a right-back but has managed to keep Galatasaray veteran full-back Sabri Sarıoğlu out of the team.
Denayer has had no trouble settling into life in Turkey in fact he has already developed a taste for one of the most popular drinks in the country; tea or çay (chai) as the locals call it.
The young defender shared an Instagram post having a traditional ‘cuppa’ alongside the caption: “çay… #do#you#think#there#is#better?#i#dont#think#so.”
Galatasaray were defeated by Benfica in the Champions League yesterday evening and take on Rizespor in the league on Saturday.
