Emre Can’s best position may be in Liverpool’s defence according to the German football journalist Rafael Honigstein.
Honigstein also stated that he is unsure whether Can has the quality to keep his place in the Red’s midfield.
“At Bayer Leverkusen they wanted to turn him into a centre-back but he didn’t quite agree,” Honigstein told GiveMeSport.
“Whether he’s got the quality to be a mainstay in Liverpool’s midfield going forward I’m not 100% convinced. I think his best position may be at centre-back because he’s a beast at winning the ball, but we’ll have to see if Klopp sees him that way.”
Can has played every Premier League game since Jurgen Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager in Brendan Rodger’s place.
The 21-year-old played a major role in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League. Can started in midfield and helped the Reds control possession for most of the game completing the highest number of passes in midfield (74) at an 84 percent.
The win took Liverpool into 7th place on 17 points meanwhile Chelsea languish in 15th place on 11 points.
