Football pundit Ray Wilkins sung Liverpool star Emre Can’s praises in a recent interview with talkSPORT.
Wilkins also praised Reds boss Jurgen Klopp for playing Can in central midfield as opposed to in defence as former Brendan Rodgers played him for much of last season.
The former Chelsea man said: “He’s playing Can in his best position. He is a midfield player. I saw him play last year with the German Under-21s, and he was absolutely outstanding as a central midfield player. That’s where he is playing now, and it looks as if he will develop into a hell of a midfield player.”
Can was signed by Rodgers from Bayer Leverkusen last season and despite establishing himself as a first time regular he was deployed as a defender and a full-back.
Rodgers was criticised for playing Can out of position but he did manage to adapt to his defensive role especially as part of a back-three.
The 21-year-old has however, been used in his preferred central midfield role since the appointment of German manager Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp replaced Rodgers are Liverpool manager over the last international break and remains unbeaten since being appointed.
Can is expected to start for Liverpool against Crystal Palace on Sunday at Anfield on Sunday 8 November.
