Beşiktaş beat rivals Bursaspor 1-0 at the Atatürk stadium yesterday with a last minute goal from Oğuzhan Özyakup.
The former Arsenal youth finished off a brilliant attacking move with a powerful shot from just outside the penalty area which found the bottom corner.
The goal was enough to give the Black Eagles all three points and was Özyakup’s third goal of the season. Beşiktaş have yet to lose a game in which the Turkish international has scored or provided an assist this season.
Özyakup struggled to establish himself under former manager Slaven Bilic but has managed to become a key player in the Beşiktaş midfield under the stewardship of Şenol Güneş.
The 22-year-old has a total of six assists and three goals in all competitions this season and has become a regular call up for the Turkish national team.
Özyakup is a former Arsenal youth and played a major role in Arsenal’s Under-18s side that won the Premier Academy League title in 2009 and made a few appearances in cup competitions for the Gunners before joining Beşiktaş in 2012 for a fee of €500,000
The win took Beşiktaş into first place in the league standings moving two points clear of Fenerbahçe who dropped into second.
