Emre Can has heaped praise on Manchester United’s star midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger during an interview with the Daily mail.

During Can’s spell at Bayern Munich, he was mentored by Schweinsteiger who now plays for Liverpool’s Premier League rival’s.

‘Bastian was a great strategist and a very nice team-mate,” Can told the Daily mail.

“He was the first to give the younger players advice and make them comfortable.”

Can was rated the worst player on the field in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend according to WhoScored.

The 21-year-old had previously made just four defensive errors since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen last season despite playing most of the league campaign as a defender under the command of Brendan Rodgers.

Can has since been deployed as a central midfielder under Klopp and has started every game under the former Borussia Dortmund head coach.
