Mesut Özil has stated that Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League was a ‘special afternoon’.
The 27-year-old found the back of the net and provided an assist in their win over their rivals.
“It all happened quickly,” Mesut Ozil told the Mirror.
“The move was really fast and when Theo played the ball back to me, I saw the gap in the corner and put it there.
“For me it was very good, it was a very positive game because I scored a goal and gave an assist. It was a special afternoon for me.”
Özil became the first player in the Premier League to provide an assist in six consecutive games.
The 27-year-old playmaker setup Gibbs with the equaliser against Spurs on the weekend breaking the Premier League record for assists provided in consecutive games (6).
Özil is in the best form of his Arsenal career since joining the Gunners on a record breaking £42.5 million transfer fee from Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2013.
