Arsenal contract rebel confirms he wants to stay on at the club
Arsenal fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief today after Mesut Ozil confirmed that he wants to stay at the club.
The playmaker of Turkish orign is under contract with Arsenal until 2018 but speculation over his future has been widespread.
“It is definitely my preference to stay,” Ozil said on Wednesday.
“Once everyone is back in London, we will sit down and discuss the future. I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.”

The 28-year-old travelled with the Gunners squad to Australia as part of their pre-season tour.
The North London based outfit take on Sydney FC on Thursday and Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday before travelling to China for two further games.
Arsenal will face Bayern Munich on 19 July in Shanghai and Premier League champions Chelsea on 22 July in Beijing before returning to England.
Ozil also underlined that he feels happy at Arsenal and that he is fully focused on the pre-season.
“For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness,” added Ozil.
“I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.”
The future of fellow Arsenal contract rebel Alexis Sanchez remains less clear.
The Chile international has not revealed if he will stay on or sign a new contract.
Sanchez has been given an extended leave after staring for Chile at the Confederations Cup.
