Barcelona and Liverpool are both preparing a move for Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder Ilkay Gündoğan according to the Express.
The daily newspaper states that Barcelona are concerned that the new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could steal in ahead of them in the race for Gündoğan because of his previous connections with the Germany international.
Gündoğan has been linked with a move to Liverpool according to the Express newspaper.
The Germany international stated that he is happy to see his former manager at Liverpool.
Klopp has been appointed as the Liverpool manager on a three-year contract in place of Brendan Rodgers.
“Wow! What a hype about Kloppo becoming the new manager of Liverpool! Congratulations to the #LFC for the appointment!” Gündoğan stated on his official Facebook page.
Klopp won two Bundesliga titles and finished the 2012-13 Champions League as runners-up during his time in charge of Dortmund.
Gündoğan joined Liverpool star Emre Can in the Germany national team camp for their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Ireland and Georgia.
Can, Gündoğan and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil make up the three Germany international players of Turkish origin.
