Boyata admits he has seen all Van Persie’s goals at Arsenal & Man Utd

Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has underlined the importance of stopping Robin van Persie ahead of the Europa League clash against Fenerbahçe on Thursday.

The former Manchester City man knows Van Persie well from his time at cross-city rivals Manchester United and before that at Arsenal.

“We have to be really tight on him. You only need to type his name into YouTube to see the amazing goals he has scored across his career. I’ve seen all his amazing goals for Arsenal, Manchester United and even before that,” Boyata told the Scotsman.

Van Persie joined Fenerbahçe from United on a three-year deal over the summer transfer window.

The 32-year-old already has four goals and one assist for his new side but has struggled for a starting spot – something he has been quite critical of.

The experienced striker came off the bench to score with his first shot on target against Beşiktaş in the Istanbul derby on the weekend. Van Persie pulled off a similar stunt the week before in the 2-1 win over Bursaspor.

The Dutch star is however, almost certain to start against Celtic on Thursday. The Yellow Canaries lost their opening game against Molde 3-1 at home while Celtic drew 2-2 with Ajax on the road.
