The number of Turkish players in top five leagues has been growing with increasing pace since 2015. There are currently just two Turkey international players in the Premier League but that could be about to change this summer.
With the regular season over there aren’t many betting options but the transfer market presents interesting propositions for football punters.
Turkey has been well-represented in the Premier League throughout the years with excellent players such as Muzzy Izzet, Tugay Kerimoğlu, Tuncay Sanli, and Emre Belözoğlu. As the 2019-2020 Premier League season debuts in August, fans of Turkish football are delighted to see two outstanding Turkish players back in the roster: Cenk Tosun of Everton and Caglar Söyüncü of Leicester City. The presence of these players is a significant factor in their respective club’s betting odds. If you want to start betting for the upcoming season, see the full list of bookmakers here.
Cenk Tosun: had a troubled first season in the Premier League, with a 10% conversion rate and a 39.8% success rate in aerial duels. If he does not improve this summer, his chances of remaining in Silva’s team are quite slim indeed. Söyüncü, on the other hand, is yet to prove himself in Leicester. Rumours abound that Turkish club Beşiktaş is interested in Söyüncü and is planning to sign him in the summer transfer window on a loan deal.
Cengiz Under: The in-demand forward is understood to be unhappy with his contract at AS Roma and is pushing for a move away from the Serie A giants this summer. Under is keen on a move to England and there are already several EPL sides linked with him including Arsenal and Tottenham.
Merih Demiral: The powerful defender has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past 12 months. Demiral joined Serie A side Sussolo in January and has already attracted the attention of Juventus after an impressive start to his Serie A career. The Old Lady already have agreed a first-option agreement with Sassuolo for Demiral however, the 1.91m tall beast is perfectly suited for Premier League football.
Okay Yokuslu: The deep-lying playmaker has impressed in La Liga since joining Celta Vigo from Trabzonspor last summer. Yokuslu has established himself as a first team regular both at club and international level this season and has been tipped for a move away from Celta by the Turkish press. The 25-year-old has already been linked with a move to West Ham United and Tottenham.
Irfan Can: Irfan Can has played an instrumental role for Istanbul Basaksehir this season and his performances have not gone unnoticed. West Ham have already expressed an interest in the Turkey international as have Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. With a little over two years remaining on his contract with Basaksehir, the Istanbul based club are expected to cash in on their in form midfielder this summer.
Ozan Kabak: It’s been quite a 12 months for 19-year-old Ozan Kabak. The young defender broke into Galatasaray’s first team due to a lack of depth in the squad last summer and made his UEFA Champions League debut after an impressive start to the season. Kabak was subsequently snapped up by Stuttgart where he continued to impress. The former Galatasaray man has been linked with a move to Bayern however, with the likes of Man United and Arsenal looking to revamp their defences this summer, could Kabak make a surprise move to the EPL.
