Borussia Dortmund have dismissed reports linking Ilkay Gündoğan with a move away from the club in January. Gündoğan has been closely linked with United and Arsenal in recent weeks but no official bid or approach has been made for the 24-year-old midfielder.
Dortmund general director Michael Zorc has played down suggestions that his side will be parting company with their stars during the January transfer window. Zorc stated that he takes the constant speculation as a compliment for the work Dortmund have been doing over the past four years.
“It would seem that we constantly have 17 players on the verge of moving to Real Madrid or Manchester United,” Zorc was quoted saying by Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
“We have been putting up with this kind of rumours on a weekly basis for the past 4 years now.
“But this at least confirms that we are working well.”
Gündoğan’s contract expires in 2016 and Dortmund want to avoid losing Gündoğan on a free transfer.
Gündoğan was one of the central figures of the Dortmund side that reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in the 2012-13 season.
Gündoğan has scored on goal in 12 appearances for Dortmund this season.
