Emre Can plays as if he is 18 sometimes says Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp praised Emre Can in his most recent press conference but also pointed out aspects of his game he must improve if the 21-year-old is to reach his potential.

Klopp described Can as having a lot of talent but that at times he plays with the immaturity of a player far younger than he actually is.

“Emre is like the whole team, he is in a good way,” Klopp was quoted as saying in the Liverpool Echo.

“The big difference is he’s very young. He’s 21, but he doesn’t look like it! Sometimes in his game he looks 18, that’s the truth!”

Klopp also stated that he does communicate well with Can as both can speak German and that he enjoys working with the central midfielder.

“He speaks the same language as me, so I can talk more to him. That’s a problem for him!” he said.

“He’s a pretty good player and I like working with him. He’s not available Sunday, but it should not be the biggest problem. We have other quality players.

“Emre, like every young player with big talent, they have to learn.”

Can speaks three languages, Turkish, German and now English. The 21-year-old is one of three ethnic Turks regularly picked in the Germany national team with the other two being Arsenal star Mesut Özil and Borussia Dortmund midfielder İlkay Gündoğan.

The young midfielder will miss the weekend clash against Newcastle United due to picking up a suspension against Southampton in the 6-1 League Cup victory last week.

Can provided an assist in the convincing victory but will have to sit out the Premier League encounter against Newcastle.
