‘Fantastic’ Ozil has ‘exceptional’ talent says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger

Mesut Özil is an exceptional talent according to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. Now you would expect Wenger to back Özil considering he spent a club record £42.5 million on the World Cup winner bringing him in from Real Madrid back in 2013.

Wenger told the official Arsenal website: “Talent-wise, I think deeply he is a very, very collective player. He is a very respectful guy. If you tell him to do that he will do it for you. I think his talent is exceptional. “His talent is fantastic. Sometimes I think he sacrifices himself for the team.”

To be fair to Özil he has been in impressive form and proved his critics wrong regarding not being a big match player considering he has scored in his last two consecutive major matches.

The 27-year-old scored and provided an assist in the 3-0 win over Manchester United and then went onto to score against Bayern Munich in the 2-0 victory over the German giants midweek.

Özil has a total of two goals and six assists in 12 appearances in all competition for the Gunners this season.

The World Cup winner is likely to start against Watford in the Premier League today. A win could take the north London based side into first place depending on results from the other games.
