Fenerbahçe have released a statement denying that club president Aziz Yıldırım has had a bust up with star striker Robin van Persie ahead of the Europa League clash against Celtic on Thursday 1 October.
The statement read: “Reports in the Takvim newspaper today regarding club president Aziz Yıldırım calling over Robin van Persie’s agent and holding a crisis meeting are a total fabrication.”
Van Persie was reported to be upset with not starting the last two games for the Yellow Canaries.
Fenerbahçe lost their last league game 3-2 against Beşiktaş in the Istanbul derby but Van Persie did score four minutes after being substituted into the game with his first shot on target and hit the post late on.
Van Persie also scored with his first shot on target two minutes after being brought on in the 2-1 win against Bursaspor a fortnight ago.
The Dutch star is however, expected to start against Celtic after scoring in his last two games.
The 32-year-old striker has a total of four goals and one assist since leaving Manchester United over the summer transfer window.
