Fenerbahce slam Besiktas for trying to scupper Man Utd striker deal

Fenerbahçe board member Şekip Mosturoğlu slammed Beşiktaş for trying to scupper the Robin Van Persie deal from Manchester United.

The Black Eagles reportedly tried to make a late bid for Van Persie after Fenerbahçe had reached an agreement with the 31-year-old striker.

Mosturoğlu tweeted: “Claiming they [Beşiktaş] made an offer for a player we already have an agreement with is naive. Please do not be naive.”

Fenerbahçe have a three-year-old deal with Van Persie and a £4.7 million transfer fee with Manchester United in place.

The Netherlands international will arrive in Istanbul, Turkey today and is expected to be greeted by over thousand fans at the Sabiha Gökçen airport.

Van Persie will officially sign for his new team on Monday in-front of Fenerbahçe fans at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.

Fenerbahçe will be signing their second United player within the space of a week.
