FIFA have blocked Barcelona from registering summer signing Arda Turan before January 4 2016 according to Sport.

Speaking to Sport former Barcelona president Toni Freixa the club have already served their transfer ban and could ask for a permit under Article 123 of the Spanish Football Federation’s law book.

The rule states that a club can request for a player with a long-term injury to be replaced with a player who is unregistered.

“FIFA sanctioned Barcelona for two transfer windows, last winter and this summer, and they’ve since passed,” he told Sport.

Barcelona are currently serving a FIFA transfer ban. The reigning La Liga champions can sign players but are unable to register them until the turn of the year.

The Champions League title holders signed Turan on a five-year deal from Atletico Madrid over the summer transfer window but will have to wait another few months for the bearded winger to make his debut.

Turan is however, permitted to play international game and is expected to feature for Turkey against the Czech Republic and Iceland in Euro 2016 Group A qualification games in October.
