Galatasaray made an offer for Rafa Benitez [divider]
Napoli manager Rafael Benitez revealed that Galatasaray made him an offer in 2013.
“Galatasaray made me a great offer but I had just signed for Napoli so it would not have been right to leave,” Benitez told Vatan.
The Lions appointed former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini instead.
Mancini won the Turkish Cup and guided Galatasaray to the Champions League Last 16.
Mancini was replaced by another Italian coach in the summer. Former Italian national team coach Cesare Prandelli was appointed head coach in the summer.
Prandelli only remained in charge for a few months and was forced to resign just a few months into his reign.
The Lions replaced Prandelli with former Akhisar manager Hamza Hamzaoğlu.
Galatasaray signed two players from Napoli in the summer, Blerim Dzemaili and Goran Pandev.
The Turkish giants are currently first in the Süper Lig on 51 points after 21 games and take on Fenerbahçe next week.
