Germany vs Sweden: Confirmed Line-ups – Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil Dropped, Ilkay Gundogan Benched

Germany face Sweden in the World Cup Group F Match Day 2 at the Fisht Olympic Stadium on Saturday hoping to turn around a surprise 1-0 defeat against Mexico in their opener.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil was heavily criticised after the game although a look at the stats showed that he was perhaps being used as a scapegoat.

Ozil created four chances, 88 touches and 75 passes with 91 percent pass accuracy.

Reus has been drafted in to replace the 29-year-old.

Joachim has decided to drop the playmaker of Turkish origin.

The other ethnic Turk in Germany side Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will not start either.

Gundogan will make his World Cup debut if he does feature at some stage today.

Sami Khedira has also been dropped from midfield and has been replaced by Rudy.

The 27-year-old was an unused substitute against Mexico and missed the previous World Cup due to injury.

Cologne’s Jonas Hector missed the Mexico game through illness and will fill in for Hertha Berlin’s Marvin Plattenhardt.

Timo Werner has kept his place upfront with Mario Gomez on the bench again.
