İlkay Gündoğan has expressed his happiness on returning to the German national team. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder started his first game for Germany since August 2013 and played the full 90 minutes.

Lukas Podolski and Marco Reus found the back of the net as Germany record a 2-2 draw against Australia in Kaiserslautern.

Gündoğan posted a picture on Instagram along with the caption, “Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for a win today at #GERAUS. Really happy I could play the full 90 minutes for the @dfb_team. Thanks for your support!”
