Fenerbahçe defender Simon Kjaer caused quite a stir when he was reported to have said he rejected Liverpool in pursuit of silverware elsewhere.
The Denmark international’s agent Lars Hendel has however, denied his client ever saying that his family are Liverpool fans and that Fenerbahçe have bigger goals than the Premier League giants.

Hendel requested that newspapers that published the fabricated quotes remove them and many including the Liverpool Echo and the Mirror took the articles down from their websites but not all have followed suit.
Liverpool were previously linked with the Danish international as were a number of other Premier League clubs including West Ham.
The 26-year-old centre back joined the Yellow Canaries on a €7.65 million move from Ligue 1 outfit Lille on Wednesday.
Kjaer joined the Istanbul giants on a four-year deal and became the first Fenerbahçe transfer under the command of manager Vitor Pereira and sporting director Giulliano Terraneo.
