Loris Karius tipped for shock Liverpool return by former striker

Besiktas goalkeeper Loris Karius still has a future at Liverpool according to former Reds forward Dean Saunders.

Karius was Liverpool’s first choice goalkeeper last season however, he was offloaded by the club following several calamitous errors during the UEFA Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

The German keeper ended up joining Besiktas on a two-year loan deal this summer. The Black Eagles have the option of signing Karius on a permanent deal.

Liverpool signed Alisson Becker from AS Roma in a £69 million deal as a replacement for Karius.

However, Saunders believes the 25-year-old exodus doesn’t mean his Liverpool career is over.

“Karius cost them against Real Madrid and Klopp will be kicking himself because he should have done something about it before,” Saunders told the Express.

“You don’t want to see that happen to anyone, but the lad’s had to go to Turkey and I think he’s done the right thing.

“Get away, rebuild your confidence and your belief then come back again.

“Maybe in a years time, we’ll say; ‘look he was on the floor, but now he’s shown real mental strength from that set back and come back’.”
