Man City Ace In Pole Position To Move To Turkey After Leeds Miss Out On Defender

Galatasaray are in pole position to sign Manchester City defender Jason Denayer following the end of the English transfer window.

The Super Lig window runs until August 31 so Galatasaray still have time to get a deal completed.

Leeds were favorites to sign the Belgium international and reportedly prepared to launch an offer for a permanent deal.

Turkish newspaper Fanatik reported on 8 August that only two sides were in the race for defender but that the Championship side were ahead in the race.

Leeds were reportedly the only side to have made a permanent offer.

A source close to Galatasaray revealed to Turkish-Football that they are in a far stronger position to negotiate a deal with City after Leeds dropped out the race.

The reigning Super Lig champions want Denayer on a loan move after he spent last season on a temporary stay at the club.

The 25-year-old played an important role in Galatasaray lifting the league title and is likely to keep his place as a first-choice defender should he return.

The alternative is spending a season in the City reserves or hoping another European side enter the race.
