Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has stated that he has his sights set on Mesut Ozil’s assist record.
Ozil has 16 assists in the Premier League this season and is just four assists away from matching Henry’s record record tally of 20.
De Bruyne has nine assists in the League for the Citizens and came of injured during their win over Everton in the League Cup.
“I know Ozil is leading and last year I had 21,” De Bruyne told the Manchester Evening News.
“You can quickly get 10 or 11 in half a season. You can sometimes have six or seven matches with nothing, then go on a run.
“For me personally it does not matter, but the more I give, the better it is for the team.”
Ozil’s 100th game for the north London based club ended in a disappointing defeat. Arsenal have now slipped down to third place and are just two points ahead of their bitter rivals Tottenham.
Arsenal take on Burnley in the FA Cup this weekend and Southampton in the Premier League next week.
