Man Utd target Gundogan has 'insane potential' says Dortmund CEO

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke stated he would try to sign İlkay Gündoğan if he was in charge of a major foreign club according to Goal.

“lkay has an insane potential. If I were in charge of a big foreign club, I would deal with the Gündogan issue definitely,” Watzke said.

The 24-year-old decided not to extend his contract at Dortmund despite being offered a lucrative deal by the German giants.

Dortmund have confirmed that Gündoğan will leave the club at the end of the season.

Manchester United have been closely linked with Gündoğan over the past month but are expected to face stiff competition from Arsenal and Barcelona for the 24-year-old.

Gündoğan traveled to Barcelona on Monday according to a report in the German newspaper Bild.

Barcelona based newspaper Mundo Deportivo claimed that the 24-year-old passed a medical for the La Liga giants.

The Dortmund midfielder has five assists and three goals in 32 appearances for Dortmund despite spending much of the season out injured.
