Mesut Bakkal gets off to winning start at Gençlerbirliği [divider]
Gençlerbirliği manager Mesut Bakkal got off to a winning start following his sides 1-0 victory over Balıkesirspor on the weekend.
Bakkal underlined that his side had a number of injured and suspended player going into the game which made the result even more impressive.
“We had a lot of missing and suspended players going into the game but we kept our discipline and earned a hard won three points,” Bakkal told Lig Tv after the game.
The experienced coach replaced Irfan Buz who was sacked following four back to back losses.
Buz became the first managerial casualty of 2015 and was followed shortly after by Karabükspor manager Tolunay Kafkas.
Bakkal has previously managed Konyaspor, Karabükspor, Samsunspor, Ankaragücü, Sivasspor, Manisasor, Denizlispor and Gaziantepspor.
Gençlerbirliği moved up into 9th place on 25 points following the win.
The Ankara based side take on 12th placed Sivasspor at the 19 Mayis stadium next week.
