Mesut Özil neglected defensive duties against Monaco says Arsenal legend [divider]
Arsenal star Mesut Özil neglected his defensive duties against Monaco in the Champions League Last 16 first-leg according to Martin Keown.
The Gunners suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat at the Emirates against the Ligue 1 outfit.
Former Arsenal defender and football pundit Keown underlined that Özil and Santi Cazorla did not work hard enough defensively.
“On the break Arsenal were picked off,” Keown told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Tonight, Özil and Cazorla were too interested in getting forward – they needed a Vieira or Petit.
“But boy, weren’t Arsenal dismantled by a very impressive Monaco team.”
